Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2026

tell reads between the lines of a LinkedIn job posting to show you what's really behind the role and the company. This policy explains exactly what data the extension touches, where it goes, and what it does not do.

The short version

What the extension stores

The extension stores one thing: the Anthropic API key you paste into its settings. It's kept in chrome.storage.local, which lives on your device, in your browser profile. It does not sync, leave your machine, or reach us. You can remove it any time from the settings page, and uninstalling the extension deletes it.

What gets sent, and to whom

When you click to decode a posting, the extension reads the visible text of that LinkedIn job posting and sends it, along with your API key, directly to the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) from your browser. Anthropic processes it to generate the decode and may run web searches about the named company as part of that analysis.

That request goes to Anthropic and only to Anthropic. It does not pass through any server operated by tell, because none exists. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by Anthropic's own privacy policy and terms, which apply because you're using your own Anthropic account and key.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it, and the current version will always be the one published at the URL listed in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
